The Future of Generative AI in Policy Work

I have been working with the Public Service Research Group, a great team at the University of New South Wales, on a research project exploring perspectives on Generative AI in policy work in Australia. From November 2024 to January 2025, we invited senior public servants from 22 state, territory, and federal government agencies to participate in research to understand how GenAI is used in policy work, including perspectives of risks and enablers for adoption.

We’ve just launched the report on our findings, including a Conversation piece that summarizes the take-away points. We’ll be continuing this work, with updates provided on the project page.
